Nicole's Story
Nicole first starting practicing yoga about a decade ago before becoming certified to teach during college. She got her degree in Fine Art Film + Photography from Montana State University, and taught yoga 'on the side' while building a wedding photography business. She fell in love with teaching + became infatuated with studying all that it means to be human — in physical, mental, emotional + energetic ways.
She continued to attend teacher trainings and workshops with various teachers to deepen her knowledge, and hoped that someday teaching yoga could become her full-time work. Nicole launched the Kula's online membership platform in April of 2021 after a positive response to uploading classes on Youtube. The Kula has since grown to include in-person yoga retreats, teacher trainings with The Collective School of Yoga + an upcoming product suite. She is proud to have retired from her wedding photography business to give The Collective her whole heart. She has a big vision for what is to come + is unbelievably excited to keep creating and growing with this community.
Since her initial 200-hr. Yoga Teacher Training with the school of Embodied Flow, she has continued to seek out various trainings over the last 8 years building her knowledge base with teachers from many disciplines and focuses. She has studied anatomy in a cadaver lab in Colorado, completed a handstand intensive in Bali, studied philosophy with Tara Judelle and Janet Stone, and is currently completing a 300-hr. breathwork training. Nicole’s pursuit of knowledge is a huge part of her practice as a student and a facilitator. She is grateful, excited and honored to be sharing the practice in the format of yoga teacher trainings, retreats, workshops, immersions, and of course in the Kula library.

"I wholeheartedly believe that the best teachers remain students, and that we all have something deeply valuable to learn from each other. The word 'student' and the word 'teacher' are just labels that have whatever meaning you give them. We can meet people who pull us deeper into ourselves + our experience of the world while sitting in a coffee shop, sitting in a lecture room or talking to a stranger on the street. I urge everyone to let themselves be touched by the world, and to be surprised about who your teachers might be."
